Coaching for founders and product leaders.

Twelve weeks. One thinking partner. We work on the decisions that actually matter, with someone who's made them, and made the mistakes.

Who it's for

You might be:

  • An IC stepping into executive weight, still doing the work when the job is now the humans.
  • A founder learning to let go, and finding delegation harder than doing it yourself.
  • A leader who suddenly leads leaders, not tasks.
  • Someone whose calendar owns them, instead of the other way around.
  • A product exec facing the hardest call there is: what not to build.

If any of those is where you're sitting, that's the work.

“The biggest thing Rod provides is founder empathy. He's been on the path before, he gets the pain, he shares it openly, and he's willing to challenge you rather than agree with the first thing he hears. What he's helped me realise most is that the majority of challenges we face, every founder goes through, no matter how successful they look from the outside. So often I've shared a challenge and Rod's said, 'Oh yeah, I remember when we faced that. It also sucked!'”

How I work

I work in twelve-week blocks. Here's the shape of it.

  1. 01

    Chemistry call

A quick call to see if we're a good fit.

  2. 02

    Goal-setting

We set the goals that matter to you.

  3. 03

    Weekly sessions

Time together each week, in person or online.

  4. 04

    In between

Slack, text or WhatsApp when something can't wait.

It's a partnership, not a program. No fixed curriculum. We work on what's live for you, and the work you do between sessions is where most of the change happens.

One thing to be clear about. Coaching is exploration, insight, and accountability. It isn't consulting, therapy, or professional advice. I won't make your decisions or do your job. What you get out of it depends on what you put in.

What I bring to it

Product depth

I've led product at scale, from roadmap to team structure to finding fit. I know the actual work, not the theory of it.

An investor's lens

As a venture partner, I see how founders and boards really operate, and what a raise looks like from the other side of the table.

Been there

Co-founder, CPO through hypergrowth, board director, investor. I’ve sat in most versions of the chair you’re in now.

Directness

You'll get clarity when everything feels chaotic. I'll tell you what I see, not what's comfortable to hear.

What we draw on

I bring a deep toolkit, but the tool serves the conversation, never the reverse. Depending on what you're working through, we might use a set of mindset shifts for the inner game, delegation models when you're learning to let go, or a structured decision process when you're stuck between two hard options. You'll leave with frames you keep using, not a binder you file away.

“Rod's approach means he feels more like a friend than an advisor. His laid back, down-to-earth style makes you comfortable working through the messiness of product, business, and personal problems. It makes it easy to gloss over the fact he's drawing on so much experience. He somehow always has an example slide deck from 8 years ago that relates to your exact problem today.”

What it costs

Length
12 weeks
Typical investment
$5k–$15k

Where it lands depends on how much time we spend together.

There's no menu to pick from. The best way to get it right is to shape it around what you're facing, and we do that on the chemistry call.

How we start

It begins with a chemistry call. We talk through what you're facing and whether I'm the right person for it. If we both feel the click, we go from there.
